Nov 23, 2022 3:09:54 PM | What's New FireGFX Version 1.13.1 Released

What's new in version 1.13.1

Version 1.13.1 brings a significant update to the SMS messaging facilities of FireGFX. Since the original version was released, FireGFX could send SMS messages once an alarm event is received.

Messages are transmitted in group priorities, and three groups are provided as standard.

Group 1

Mobile numbers in this group receive Fire Alarm events only

Group 2

Mobile numbers in this group receive Fire & Other events, for example, pre-alarms.

Group 3

Mobile numbers in this group receive Fire, Other events and Faults.

In version 1.13.1, a new pop-up form editor has been added to allow a contact to be edited, including changing the assigned SMS group.

The core of the SMS changes in v1.13.1 is behind the scenes with the SMS engine:-

  • The SMS Port is now checked on each transmission. If it is closed, an attempt is made to re-open it.
  • Additional error checking has been added for each stage of SMS transmission
    • Check for a response from the modem
    • Check for a valid response after setting the SMS format on the modem
    • Check for a valid response after accessing the SMS store
    • Check for a valid response after sending a mobile number to the SMS modem
    • Check for a valid response after sending a text message to the modem
    • Check for a valid response after issuing the transmit message command

The changes made to the SMS module result in improved reliability in SMS transmission with a much better user experience in managing SMS users.
